Quantities of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) increase every year in Europe and the world. It becomes critical to manage those wastes.
The WEEE and RoHS Directive are 2 new pieces of European environmental legislation aimed at improving recycling and the environment
WEEE Directive (2002/96/EC) + (2003/108/EC)
The WEEE Directive (Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment) aims to reduce the landfill and provide for a more sustainable European economy by encouraging recycling.
The directive encourages the recycling of EEE at the end of the product life. Final users (households and professionals) have to collect them separately and bring them back in appropriate collection points.
The RoHS Directive (2002/95/EC)
The RoHS Directive (Restriction of Certain Hazardous Substances) aims to reduce the effect on the environment by prohibiting and/or restricting the use of certain potentially hazardous materials in the production of goods.
Fellowes will be fully compliant with these Directives and has ensured that every electrical or electronic product that we introduce into the European Union after July 1st 2006 will meet the requirements of both Directives.

Disposal of Waste Electrical and Electronic
Equipment
There is now a requirement not to dispose of Waste Electrical and Electronic
Equipment as unsorted municipal waste, do not throw your
waste electrical equipment into your wheelie bin. Electrical Waste should
be collected /disposed of separately.
The Electrical Item can be returned to the store that you originally purchased
it from or it can be taken to your nearest Recycling Centre, please see
the section "finding your nearest recycling centre".
There is a potential negative effect on the environment and on human health
as a result of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
End users have a role to play in reducing the amount of electrical Items
that are disposed of without the opportunity for the item to be reused
/ recycled, also this action will benefit the environment as a whole.
