" I bought this shredder to replace an older Fellowes shredder. This model is more compact, quieter, and has a window that allows you to view how much paper has been shredded (and when it is time to empty it). Past shredders have not had this window. As a result, I have burned the motor of multiple shredders. I believe this one will last for several years. It replaced a 2012 model that my father bought nine years ago. "
